Self-Leadership for Educators
Leading from the inside out.
“Self-leadership…
is about influencing ourselves, creating the self-motivation and self-direction we need to accomplish what we want to accomplish.”
Charles C. Manz
Leaders of the New Order
Education is undergoing rapid change. The current climate presents leaders with a suite of challenges around academic priorities, security, health, economics and more. All this while embracing how to support inclusivity, sustainability and wellbeing. This calls for dynamic shifts when resources are limited, systems are stressed, structures are in flux and educators are stretched.
Leaders of the emerging order understand that navigating this challenging context in pursuit of their vital missions requires new levels of personal and professional resourcefulness and agency. They realize that they must attend to their personal and professional wellbeing if they are to achieve the results they seek, stay the course and thrive in life and work. They understand that the first person they lead is themselves.

Healthy systems require high-functioning individuals.
Live it to give it!
This calls for new levels of self-literacy and personal agency - broadening the scope of professional learning to include personal professional development to nurture, develop and retain educators who teach and lead from whole and well selves, who contribute fully to their teams and systems, and who retain joy and value in their work and lives.
This is the curriculum we were not taught in school. We acquire it ad hoc through life. However, it bears examination, refining, and aligning it to your current context.
Leadership 4.0
“System 4.0 requires ‘whole-person whole-system learning.”
Otto Scharmer
WHOLE PERSON LEARNING FOR WHOLE SYSTEM IMPACT
This calls for new levels of self-literacy and personal agency as leaders navigate their paths, serve their purpose and meet the challenges and opportunities of the emerging order with adaptivity and resilience. This includes their sense of purpose, values and beliefs - aligned with the mindsets, habits and practices that carry over into life and work.
